TENNIS COURT LED LIGHTING UPGRADE WITH SMART CONTROL

Requirement

  • Met Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) criteria: Ensuring proper light levels for high-level tennis courts.Optimized energy consumption: efficient control, reducing costs and making the most of natural light.
  • Simplifies management: user-friendly system with quick adjustments via koolmesh app and local manual control.
  • Provides flexibility: dynamic lighting adjustment based on use, from training sessions to competitions.

The Solution

Bluetooth repeater:

Installed on each court, providing the foundation for a stable and accurate control network.

This device maintains real-time synchronization, even during power outages, ensuring the continuity of the lighting system.

Low Energy's new LED luminaires were equipped with Bluetooth controllers:

These controllers manage the on/off functions and brightness adjustments of each light precisely and in real time.

This flexible control allows the lighting to adapt to the specific needs of the club and the playing conditions.

Additionally, the controllers ensure that lights are only used when necessary, preventing premature wear.

Wireless, kinetic wall switches based on EnOcean technology were installed for greater flexibility (no cables or batteries needed):

These switches allow for quick manual control without depending on the central system, offering flexibility and ease of use in scenarios where immediate adjustments are needed.

Tennis court lighting at West Hants Club is now managed through the Koolmesh app.
Both employees and players can:

Control lighting scenes with the Koolmesh app: They can select pre-set scenes like 50% or 100% brightness, depending on the activity—whether it’s practice or an evening match.

Automatic dimming and switching: The LED lights are fully customizable, allowing for smooth dimming and instant switching between different lighting modes. This is especially useful for transitioning between scenarios like “cleaning mode” or active play.

Active the Daylight harvest(open loop )scene and the luminairs will adjust the light level according to the ambient level. And also the use of the EnOcean switch help to arrangement of wire. In this project, also use the one-key device replacement and multi-network gateway synchronous control in Koolmesh

The Results

Improved player experience: players now enjoy a perfect view of the court, reducing glare and helping them focus on their technique.

Energy efficiency: Lighting scenes can be customised to reduce energy consumption, extend the life of LED lights and lower electricity bills.

Operational Efficiency: Staff can manage light scheduling, brightness levels and controls through the Koolmesh mobile app, improving the club’s daily operations.

Quick manual adjustments: Wireless wall switches allow staff to easily change lighting on the spot without relying on a centralised system, ensuring flexibility in the event of an event or unexpected demand.

Carbon Neutral Progress: The Club has made significant progress towards carbon neutrality and will see a return on investment in less than a year thanks to funding from the Carbon Trust
